African Violet Glossary

K: Symbol for potassium, an essential element.

Kansas: Optimara variety. Standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with bi-color flowers. Flowers are white stars with a red center. Leaves are dark green. Introduced 1987. Improved 2000. (AVSA Reg. No. 6561) More information.

Katja: Rhapsodie variety. Medium, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with single, two-tone blue flowers and medium green leaves. Introduced 1994. More information.

Kazuko: Optimara variety. Large, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with single, white flowers and light green leaves. Introduced 1996. More information.

Keepsake: Optimara variety belonging to the Victorian Charm series. Medium, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size). Flowers are lilac stars. Leaves are variegated. Introduced 1994. (AVSA Reg. No. 8317) More information.

Keiko: Holtkamp variety (Europe). Miniature African Violet (2-inch pot size) with single, red flowers and dark green leaves.

Kelthane: Popular trademark for a miticide containing Dicofol.

Kentucky: Optimara variety. Medium, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with single, purple flowers and dark green leaves (red reverse). Introduced 1987. (AVSA Reg. No. 6562) More information.

Kim: Rhapsodie variety. Standard African Violet (4-inch pot size). Flowers are blue and white stars. More information.

Knoxville: Optimara variety. Small, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with single, two-tone pink flowers and medium green, girl-type leaves. Introduced 1988. (AVSA Reg. No. 6954) More information.

Kphite: A biological systemic fungicide for the control of downy mildew, phytphthora, pythium and various other diseases on agricultural and greenhouse crops, indoor and outdoor ornamentals, bedding plants and forestry applications and domestic trees including conifers, pines, oaks, and turf. (EPA Reg No. 68573-2-73806).

Kristel: Holtkamp variety (Europe). Large, standard African Violet (4-inch pot size) with single, blue flowers and medium green leaves. Available in the U.S. as Vermont.

Kunzite: Optimara super miniature variety. See Little Kunzite.
