White Spots on Leaves

Leaves have white spots on them.

This symptom may be caused by a number of problems. You may either view the list of possible causes, or select from the list of additional symptoms below in order to narrow down your search.

Note: White spots on leaves should be distinguished from the white or light gray powder caused by Powdery Mildew. The white spots, which are symptomatic of the causes listed, appear as part of the leaf tissue. The white or light gray powder caused by Powdery Mildew is a fungus which covers the leaves superficially.

• List of possible causes.

Additional Symptoms

• Leaves pale. They appear yellow or gray in color.
• Leaves pale on the edge. Edges appear yellow in color.
• Leaves pale only on the tip. Tips appear yellow in color. This symptom is most visible on the younger, smaller leaves of the crown.
• Leaves pale between the veins.
• Leaves darken. They appear brown or black in color.
• Leaves darken on the edge. Edges appear brown in color.
• Leaves have streaks on the underside of them. Streaks are gray or silver in color.
• Leaves are deformed or twisted.
• Leaves are smaller than normal.
• Not flowering.
• Flowers are smaller than normal.
• Flowers are damaged. They may have holes in them.
• Flowers turn brown or have brown spots on them.
• Flowers are blotchy or streaked.
• Flowers have a light yellow powder on them.
• Visible insects or related pests. These pests may only be visible with a magnifying glass.
• No other symptoms.
